Welcome!
If you saw the about us section on the front of the page, you already know that we have a passion for reptiles, amphibians, plants and building terrariums. And since you’re here, you probably love at least one of those things too. It’s nice to have so much in common.
Kyle became interested in reptiles and insects as well as all of the sciences at a very young age. His passions were on full display with a multitude of 4-H projects and science fairs. He did everything from insect collections, to model rockets and working with bacteria.
When he started college, those loves grew even further as a biology major. Fairly soon after, Kyle decided that chameleons were “really cool” and of course wanted one of his own. After starting small with 2 Anoles, Bonnie and Clyde, Jack the Veiled Chameleon eventually found a new home with us.
As for me? I spent a lot a time camping as a child. Like, every weekend for the entire summer was spent at the campground. Some of my favorite memories were flipping rocks to look for salamanders, checking the creeks and ponds for frogs and fishing early on a Saturday morning. I’ve been fascinated by our amphibian friends my entire life. Fast forward, that still hasn’t changed.
As an undergrad in biology, my independent research was on the diversity and abundance of salamander populations in areas of different types of landcover. Does that make me seem smart? I hope so. My inner child really just wanted to go play in streams and creeks, flipping rocks looking for salamanders and other critters. My outer college student wanted the class credit and the resume builder.
Just after college, we brought home our first leopard gecko. A beautiful RAPTOR girl. She’s been with us for over 10 years now and she’s still going strong.
But how does this all come together? When you take two college sweethearts, add a passion for reptiles and amphibians a business was eventually born. We have been breeding leopard geckos for over 8 years now and it has been a roller coaster. It hasn’t always been easy, and a few times it was down right frustrating, but we wouldn’t have had it any other way. We have learned so many valuable lessons, methods and patience.
Building a website and starting a blog to go with it has been a pipe dream of ours for a long time now. You could even say it’s been a labor of love. To everyone who is new around here, welcome. And for everyone who has been with us since the beginning, thank you.
